You forget the fact that Joe Biden , inviting the Ukraine into NATO, prompted Russia into attacking. The Ukraine and Crimea are strategic and represent an existential threat if lost to Russia. The Party of War Neocon Biden, incompetent steward of American foreign policy, never negotiated peace in 2021 when Russia was at the table. Joe chose war, a half a million people have died, the Ukraine is losing, there is no end in sight with the Empire of America overextended and bungling into war globally. Maybe Joe should have listened to Washington, Eisenhower and Kennedy before him who warned of foreign entanglements and America’s military industrial complex. Maybe we should not have expanded NATO 14 times, against a promise to Gorbachev, to the border of Russia. Maybe America should lead by example and walk softly and carry a big stick. Maybe we should question the warmongering Empire that has become America.

I don't believe Russia 'attacked' Ukraine. Ukraine began bombing the Donbas region in 2014, killing large swaths of men, women and children. Civilians. Innocents. Russia asked repeatedly of Ukraine, of NATO, of neighboring countries to CEASE the attacks. No one listened, no one intervened for years, nearly a decade. Russia responded. An effort to protect innocents being bombed on a daily basis.

Another terrific piece. I was especially struck by your quote from Yaroslav Trofimov about the reality of it now being America's war. That's an aspect of it I had not previously considered.

Spot on, as usual. (Thanks for link to the AEI report)

“The question isn't just whether we'll support Ukraine; it's whether we can afford not to.”

If we stood down two years ago, in my opinion, we’d be fighting on the ground in Poland today. He won’t stop.

The whole idea that Empires crumble due to a lack of engagement on their periphery is absolutely laughable.

It’s laughable because it is the exact opposite of the truth - in fact it is military over-extension that dooms empires.

Newsflash - other countries want the American military to go the fuck home and stop pumping guns and bombs into conflicts around the world.

We don’t want you, please fuck off.

Also adding that your regional governors “ambassadors” do not speak for the countries they are posted in.

Well I would argue that letter is more communicating what they hear from both the leaders and the people of the countries they are posted in. Before I “fuck off”,” I would just say it’s less about military over-extention and more about keeping the committments made to our allies. I don’t know what “other countries” you are referring to, but I’m pretty sure the Ukrainians don’t want the U.S. to “go the fuck home”. But thanks for weighing in!

As any shill for Ukraine should be. Uncomfortable with being exposed as compromised, Mr Johnson?
