U.S. officials have confirmed that an Israeli missile has struck a target in Iran in response for last weekend’s Iranian missile and drone attack on Israel.
According to reports from the Iranian semi-official FARS news agency, multiple explosions were heard near a military base in Isfahan, a location known for its strategic military significance. The area hosts fighter jets and is proximate to one of Iran's major nuclear facilities, although early indications suggest that the nuclear site was not the target. Instead, Iranian social media and news outlets speculate that the focus was likely a military base used for logistical and operational purposes in the northwest part of Isfahan.
Iranian state-run IRNA news agency reported that air defenses were activated and engaged incoming threats at a major airbase in Isfahan. This defensive action suggests that Iran is on high alert for additional strikes.
The incident occurred just hours after Iran’s Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahianwarned that any further military actions by Israel would elicit an "immediate and at a maximum level" response from Iran.
U.S. officials acknowledged that Israel had informed them of the impending retaliation, emphasizing that while the U.S. did not endorse the strike, it was not surprised by the development. There were some conversations today between National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan and Israeli officials about Iran and Gaza. Remember the Biden administration has urged Israel to exercise restraint, fearing that unchecked retaliation could trigger a wider regional conflict. The U.S. has promised to defend Israel but has told Israel it would not take part in offensive operations
The US now is trying to figure out the extent of the damage before saying anything publicly. hey're The Israeli Defense Forces have maintained silence over the operation, not providing comments or details about the strike, which is typical .
Secretary of State Antony Blinken is going to be meeting in a few hours with G-7 ministers in Italy, where they are likely to discuss the incident and consider approaches to mitigate further military escalations.
As we did last week - let’s keep this channel open to discuss your thoughts and questions. I will be doing some tv hits tomorrow and working sources and will keep you posted on anythig I hear.
I hope to be wrong on this. But this attack reminds me of President Clinton striking a 🐫 ass... It appears to be a very very weak response to 300 plus incoming proyectiles..Its almost laughable. . Again Iran Won .. this was Israel op to create detterrance..
It is believed that Russian SS300 antiaircraft missiles were at the base hit. They were useless. It seems to me that Israel sent a clear message to Iran: we can hit you where and when we want and you can’t do anything against it. Seems quite forceful to me.
I think a response by Israel was definitely necessary, and going after Iranian surrogates should ramp up. Including Hamas, though that front is pretty ramped up as it is.
Israel is confirming a limited strike on an Iranian airbase. The goal here was to send a message to Iran that Israel will not accept the type of direct attack Iran launched this past weekend.
Iran is already downplaying it on its state-run TV. Let’s hope that this cycle of tit-for-tat cycle is contained and both sides will step away from the brink.
Do you have any info on what I’m reading is a new type of weapon the Israelis used in this event? It was referred to as a glide bomb(?) and was undetected by the Russian air defenses the Iranians use?
Yes I'm heard that too - but need to check with some more sources and read a little more about the type. In any event, I think Israel wanted to send a message with that attack hat it could strike deep into Iran and it did that. So message sent and received. I don;'t think Iran will respond, at least not now and not to this particular attack.
I’m hearing on tv that people are raising the nuclear card. My sources acknowledge that Iran is close to “breakout” capacity, which means enough nuclear material for a weapon. But there is nothing to indicate that Iran is close to “weaponization,” which means being able to miniaturize a nuclear warhead and fitting it onto a missile.
I’m definitely not downplaying the Iranian threat - but Iran is not able to hit Israel or any country with a nuclear weapon at this point.
Even if Iran was able to hit Israel with a nuclear weapon, if they are stupid enough to use it, they will wipe out not only the Jews, but also most Palestinians. Is that what they want?
I think it was to warn that they can hit inside Iran. As if to say “this time wasn’t bad but if you continue, we can do much worse” which is true.
Shouldn’t your title be Israel Strikes back?

Yes, I just realized that about 5 minutes ago. I am mortified 🤦♀️
I changed the online version but the damage is done because apparently 95 percent of you read this in the email form.
Sorry everyone!

I don't think they are stupid enough actually. But I also don't think they care about wiping the Palestinians.
Which means we need to make it clear to the Ayatollahs that we will take no sh*t from them.
Wow, do you actually think Iran cares for the Palestinians? They would all be martyrs. The Arab world would rejoice..
